28 March 2010: DAY 87 (WEEK 13)

27 March 2010: DAY 86 (WEEK 13)
nitz arrived today!! his plane landed around 6am. our new guest arrived today too! since his plane landed half an hour after nitz, he just waited for his friend at the airport and they came home together. the kids were really excited to see their papa.
and these goodies were all from the philippines!! most of them were sent by my in-laws (my mom-in-law, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law) all sent something for us. my friend naida and meg also sent some goodies. i have to say, half of the luggage of nitz' friend was for us...hahaha. good thing he was still able to squeeze in some of his clothes..hahaha.

25 March 2010: DAY 84 (WEEK 13)
my guests left early today (7am). they were flying back to the US. i couldn't believe their vacation was over. we will surely miss their company...
isabelle discovered a new fruit -- tamarind! she has tasted it before, the ones that are already packed like candies in small plastics, and those that has sugar already. but this is the real one! it still has the hard brown coating. she really enjoyed it. autie sonia bought it from italy during their trip there.

24 March 2010: DAY 83 (WEEK 13)
everytime i need something urgent from the grocery store, i would ask rafael to buy it. we are lucky there is a grocery store just across our house.
and i took a photo of the kids just before they went to bed. we all slept in my bedroom since nitz was in malaysia. i heard them say a prayer for their papa safe trip.

22 March 2010: DAY 81 (WEEK 13)
when i picked up the kids from school, isabelle was not dressed in her costume anymore. i asked her if they used the costume and she said they did. but once we got out of the school building, she asked me to put on her costume again!! i put it on again so she could walk home as a fairy...or a fairy princess (she has wings too but it was too difficult to put it over her jacket... hahaha).
and whenever we were near the house, sofia would get down the stroller and run with rafael. isabelle was happy to take her place on the stroller.

21 March 2010: DAY 80 (WEEK 12)
kept myself busy during the weekend. i did the laundry, cleaned the house, did the grocery... and made isabelle a nice skirt!! she needed to wear a costume for monday. i couldn't find her princess dress so i decided to just make her a skirt matching her wings so she can be a fairy!! she loved the skirt i made.

i took my guest to sacre-coeur (Sacred Heart). it is such a beautiful church situated on one of the highest point in paris.
and since sofia was with us... and she was like a pricess being carried in her stroller up the stairs.
and when we got home, my guests cooked the dinner!! we exchanged stories of all our adventures... hahaha. it was a wonderful bonding experience.

my guests went out on their own today... they took the red tour bus (hop-on hop-off) to see the rest of paris. while they were out, i tidied up the house a bit.

finally my guests arrived!! (from l to r)tita nelie, tito pinong, tito rene and tita sonia. after a quick lunch at home, we headed to the eiffel tower! it was such a beautiful day... what a blessing.

rafael washing the dishes!!
tonight rafael offered to wash the dishes. i was really tired doing chores the whole day. usually he does the dishes at night when there is no school the following day...and during weekends and vacation. but there are rare times when he offers to do the dishes when he knows i am tired. and he does a really good job doing it!!! i am really proud of him. thank you rafael!

we had our household at haydee's house. we celebrated her birthday and moira's 5th month. we had lots of delicious food!! it was a wonderful celebration...

13 March 2010: DAY 72 (WEEK 11)
so... cleaning again!!! you know i cannot clean the house in one day...especially not with the kids around. if i am having some guests.. usually it takes me 4 days to ready the house...and another day to cook some food.
my husband prepared something special --it is called 'croustillant de gambas avec chutney à la mangue'. the other night he had dinner with his officemates in this restaurant where they cooked their food. this was the same starter they cooked.
first, he brushed the wrapper with olive oil, wrapped the shrimp and basil in it...
sprinkled them with sesame seed... then baked them in the oven until the wrapper was crispy enough.
voila!! chrunchy shrimp in mangoe chutney. he also made that mangoe chutney sauce.. but i didn't know how. all i could say was -- yummy!!

i started cleaning the house for my guests who will be coming tuesday next week.
but the really interesting part of the day was helping out my niece cook 'caldereta' on line!!!! her laptop was in the kitchen and we were on skype. i walked her through the whole process. and at the end of it... success!! she said it tasted really good... (of course i couldn't say the same thing..hahaha). but it was her first time to cook this dish and she was happy with the outcome.

11 March 2010: DAY 70 (WEEK 11)
rafael came home with all these books! oh no, they are not school books. 'chair de poule' is a series of thriller stories (... a little bit scary!!) but rafael loves it. he only borrows from his classmate (a girl with brothers who finished reading their collection), but since they have to move, she had to get rid of all the books. rafael was more than happy to take them, and he even shared to some of his classmates who want too.
just to let you know... each book costs 4.50 euros... a bit expensive! (but of course i convert all the time..hahaha).

10 March 2010: DAY 69 (WEEK 11)
tonight i cooked one of the picard goodies - shrimp in garlic and parsley. i matched it with fried rice with ham, corn, peas, carrots and egg. the kids enjoyed it!!
and this is a funny scene -- i was on the computer and so was nitz in our bedroom, sofia was just watching a movie on the portable dvd player. we didn't notice that she just fell asleep. poor girl...she was really tired.

we have a store here that sells frozen food, it is called picard. they have almost everything -- bread, fruits, meat, vegetables,and microwaveable ready-to-eat food from starters to desserts!! and sometimes when i really get tired of eating what i cook, i buy there. and here are some of the goodies i bought!! (so no cooking for a couple of days...hahaha).

the kids are back to school!! there will be some peace in the house again. but sofia will definitely miss waking up and having her brother and sister to play with all day long. but then again.... i can put order again in the house. hahaha

today our household group decided to have a fellowship day! this means we can just 'have fun' (sort of... just a gathering but not a prayer meeting). so we decided to eat in this japanese restaurant (all you can eat!!!). but... when we got there.. it is closed (on saturday and sunday lunch time). wow... so much for the excitement!
so we decided to just find another 'eat all you can' resto. we took the subway and headed for gare de l'est(gare meaning train station and est meaning east -- you can correct me if i'm wrong). where there is a nearby chinese all-you-can-eat resto.
so here is the resto...and its open!!!
and here we are...happy and full to the brim!!

received a gift from a friend in the philippines. bing, thank you so much for the book and the card!! i rarely receive anything by post nowadays (except of course bills!!! and stuff i order on line). it feels so good to received letters or cards... and gifts from friends and relatives through mail.thank you again, bing!!!

rafael tried to carry sofia on his shoulders... my first reaction was --'put her down!!' but rafael said...take a picture mommy! so i ran for the camera..took a couple of pictures the shouted again --'now put her down!!' i was scared she would fall but i still took some photos when they asked me too... hahaha.
and of course isabelle wanted to be photographed horse-back riding his brother too! so here is it. me and my crazy kids...hahaha

02 March 2010: DAY 61 (WEEK 10)
nitz still have the day off so we decided to just walk around paris.
this is actually a replica of the the flame of the statue of liberty (that's what i know... but i am wrong i will correct this post..). but somehow it became a symbol also for Lady Diana because it was under this tunnel that her car crashed. every year during her death anniversary or birthday, may would put flowers here for her.
then we walked down avenue montaigne. we wanted to visit the canadian embassy to ask some questions regarding our move...but we weren't even let in. the guard asked what our concern was, and upon knowing the we already have our visa, he said there is no more problem!!! hahaha... so we ended up just walking along that streets and checking our the shops. this street is really 'loaded'!!! and i mean most (if not all..) the sigrnature stores are here!! here are some..!!

after a late but heavy breakfast, it was time to go. we went home with so many goodies!!-- walnuts, potatoes, chocolates, toys, cheese, jam (that the nun made!!!) and really good memories. thank you very much for making us feel at home....
then we dropped by disney to meet up with an very good old friend of mine -- carol!! it has been more than 6 years since i last saw her.
you can see her with her daughter, alexandra, and husband, richard. too bad they couldn't go to paris to see the sights. they booked their whole vacation in disney. nonetheless... i am just glad our schedule worked out and we were able to meet up.

28 February 2010: DAY 59 (WEEK 9)
attended the mass early that morning, our family offered for the mass.
just before lunch, sis. odile asked me to take some photos of the convent, the chapel and the nuns during the angelus. it was such an honor to photograph them and the place. i had a grand tour of the convent. i decided not to those photos... not too many people are allowed inside the convent anyway.
after lunch we decided to go around st. maur and see some sights. sis. odile suggested some places we can go to.
our first stop is...i forgot!! i have to ask my husband first and then i will edit this later.
then we went to a big vineyard. the place is called Chateau Chalon. we didn't see any castle, but the place is just known for that. too bad there weren't any green yet in the vineyard, it would have been so beautiful. but it was still nice to see all the lines ready for the grapes.
then we headed back to the monastery...
late that evening, we joined the nuns in the recreational area. isabelle distributed all her drawings, the nuns were truly delighted!!! we shared with them the news about our move to canada. they wished us good luck and they said they will pray for us.
