31 July 2010: DAY 212 (WEEK 31)
it was the last day of Our Lady in our house. we offered our farewell prayers and then raquel (the person in charge) took Her to another home.

i invited my highschool classmate and friend, ronald castillo, and his family over for dinner. i made this for dessert -- rocky road cheesecake!

29 July 2010: DAY 210 (WEEK 31)
took a photo of a car attending the funeral of allen.
allen was somebody i don't really know, but his family and my brother's are friends. he was my nephew's schoolmate. he was only 17 yrs old.
one night (past midnight) he went out with some friends (all of the same age..). they went out for a joy-ride. the fun went too far... their car flipped over, allen flew out of the window straight into a tree 20 feet away. he was rushed into the hospital and was in very bad shape. he went into coma... but after a few days, his fragile body gave up.
i cannot even begine to imagine how painful it must have been for his family...
i just hope teenagers will learn from this incident.
life is precious.

today we offered a mass for my dad. we all wore the shirts we made last year for his funeral.
rafael and grace served for that mass..
and the priest requested me to take some pictures of the alter servers with him...(which reminds me, i have to send this photo to him!! hahaha)

remembering my dad today...
i know i am a bit late with my daily post but i just have to post this.
a year ago on this day my dad passed away...
and now i just want to remember my last memories of him. to my brothers , sister, nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters -in-law, relatives and friends... dad sickness brought us closer together, we have smiled more, appreciated each other more... appreciated our lives more(!!!), cared more, forgiven more..and loved more. as we remember dad ( or daddy-old or grampa or manong benny or ka benny), let us remember to love more, appreciate more, forgive more..
i love you, dad.

gosh... i almost forgot the take the day's photo!!
so even if the kids were all sleepy, i asked them if i could take some pictures of them. hehehe they were more than happy to do it.

as soon as the girls woke up, they played with their new toy -- the littliest petshop. isabelle had the pets already, but now they have a house to put them in.

21 July 2010: DAY 202 (WEEK 30)
it's sofia's 3rd birthday!! she celebrated her first birthday here in canada too!! (during our summer vacation). and now we have the same guests we had that time.
nitz called to greet sofia!!
we served chicken and tuna sandwiches, baked bbq ribs, mashed potatoe, corn and carrot, baked macaroni and chocolate fudge squares and ice cream (for dessert).

and her gifts...(but she got some more from the guests who came a bit later..).
and then the kids all went outside for their loot bags!!
they blew bubbles for a while. sofia loves blowing bubbles.
then we went in the house again for sofia to cut the cake.
time to open the gifts!
and when the time comes for our family photo..the celebrant fell asleep.

my sister-in-law was kind enough to look after the girls so me and rafael could run to the mall to do some errands. we bought stuff for sofia's birthday (tomorrow!!!)-- balloons, party bags, gifts ....
i also bought all the kids their own 'crocs'!! they were so happy with their matching sandals..

since the statue of Mama Mary came to our house, we have been praying the rosary every night. i am happy the kids are participate willingly... rafael even lead the rosary.

my brother's friends from the LEGION OF MARY. they came to bring the statue of MAMA MARY to our house.
i am thankful for having met so many wonderful people here in canada. all of my brother's friends have all been very nice and welcoming to me and my family. i know i am never alone... and i thank the LORD.

i often see these men come by and mow our neighbors lawns. i think it is a very good business! today they did the lawn and cut the hedges too...
and here is his truck with all the equiptments needed.
this is something very interesting for me...keeping one's lawn neat is a serious business. we have a front lawn in the philippines and we do maintain it (but i barely notice when my mom or brother trim it). here in canada, all houses have front and backyards and every now and then you will hear the buzz of the mower.

isabelle had a big surprise... a mail from her friend in paris!! isn't that a wonderful surprise!! isabelle often tells me she misses her friend olympe..

i got to talk to my mom and brother in the philippines!! since they are 12 hours ahead of us, it was more convenient now to catch them online -- we usually talk between 6 - 8 ( morning for them and evening for me). i really miss them a lot...

and nitz on the phone..
it is a bit difficult not having him around, but he makes sure he calls us every day. it is comforting enough just to hear him on the phone while i do chores.

10 July 2010: DAY 191 (WEEK 28)
after the rain the yesterday, the weather today is cooler.
after mass, kuya and his family came over for dinner. since i didn't prepare anything, we decided to just order chicken and bake some (ready made frozen) pizza!! i have to say it was a wonderful dinner...!!!

thank God it rained today!
every friday is garbage day! i woke up early to put the bins in front of the driveway... but they usually pick them up after lunch. but still the bins should be out as early as possible because they might come by early.
nothing much for the rest of the day...
