23 JANUARY 2011: day 23 (week 3)
we all woke up late (that is what i love about saturdays!!) and after breakfast my kids just sat together to play with the iphone. this is one of those moments that they share and one plays while the others just watch. but of course there are moments when they fight over it...hahaha.
22 JANUARY 2011: day 22 (week 3)
tita tess (a family friend of ours) was having a little get together to remember her brother who passed away 40 days ago. after offering mass that morning, there was a little gathering at her house. so i cooked eggs and fried rice because it was a breakfast affair.
it is part of our tradition to remember a family member who passed away after 9 days, 40 days and 1 year (from the day he/she passed away). we offer a mass and/or prayers.

21 JANUARY 2011: day 21 (week 3)
thank God it's friday!!
no school today for the kids because it is PA day..(i know i have asked the kids what pa day is but i forgot!!..hehehe). anyway, i am just glad the kids are home.
like i told you...isabelle got well yesterday afternoon! and her she is showing off her jumping rope talent! i am really suprised she can do it!!

20 JANUARY 2011: day 20 (week 3)
we got a call from the school that isabelle got sick and they asked us to pick her up. but a mother of her classmate was there and offered to bring her home. (we've known each other from some of the school activities).
and since i have the 2 girls home (one is sick...) i was really hoping that rafael would just walk home if he sees that i am not there at the bus stop. and he did.... i believe someone told him that isabelle went home during lunch time because she was sick so he knew i might not pick him at the bus stop. he didn't mind walking home alone.
oh..that night isabelle was all well... hehehe.

christmas is really not over!! i received 2 more cards today -- from cecile (france) and from gwen (philippines). they made my day...thank you very much!!

17 JANUARY 2011: day 17 (week 3)
here is the personalized 2011 calendar i ordered from france. this contains photos of our paris moments... oh i miss paris.
16 JANUARY 2011: day 16 (week 2)
this was the second time we went 'tobogganing'. i was really intrigued with this word (toboggan) the firs time i heard it. i thought it was a filipino word and was just pronounced in a canadian accent. we have a word in filipino 'tubugan' meaning to submerge. then i googled toboggan and the word does exist!

so now i know it.
and i love these shots of my husband...hahaha can you tell he is having fun?!!
and kuya ed had a blast too!! hehehe
we were quite a big group! we invited some friends to join us. it was really fun! although it was -17(i think) but with the sun shining bright... it was still perfect for tobogganing.

the youngest child of kuya ed, grace, turned 10 today!
kuya ed and ate mel busy preparing everything for the party....

very close family friends came to celebrate grace's birthday.
we lit the candles again for rosalie!! she was celebrating her birthday that same day. she is the godmother of grace...

12 JANUARY 2011: day 12 (week 2)
isabelle's skating day!!
i volunteered to accompany isabelle's class to the skating arena. i was hoping to go alone but last night nitz mentioned that he has to go to a job hunting seminar/workshop! and i had to bring sofia with me. i was thinking of not going to isabelle's skating but i know the teacher was expecting me. so i brought sofia to school too.
that morning it was snowing quite heavily(!!) and the class would be walking from the school to the arena. i was thinking it was no problem since i had the stroller for sofia. then when we started walking, i noticed that the sidewalks were covered with snow (at least 7cm deep!!!)! i was really having a hard time pushing the stroller because i was dragging all the snow with the wheels... it was so so so difficult! i got left behind by the class... but i made it to the arena in time.

and after awhile she was able to let go and glide slowly.
i was so proud of isabelle!
on our way back, a parent offered us a ride. she sure saved us. she even brought sofia and i home.

11 JANUARY 2011: day 11 (week 2)
i was set to take photos of the skates and helmets of rafael and isabelle when sofia asked if i could take a photo of her (first!!!)...so here she is!!
and here are the skates and the helmets. skating is part of their school activity and they are required to have their own skates and helmets. i am just so excited for them!!

10 JANUARY 2011: day 10 (week 2)
i didn't receive too many cards this year. but i am still hoping for some to arrive. from all of these cards, only 3 are personally for me. the rest are for rafael and isabelle! i was surprised that their classmates gave them christmas cards. i feel a little bit guilty that they didn't give any one any card at all. but now i know... next year we will be prepared.
so thank you to ingrid (from the philippines), your card was the very first i received this year. then i received irene's (from manchester), angelika's card was inside her package (from germany), and donna's (from the US) came after christmas. thank you for taking time sending me those cards, they mean a lot to me.

09 JANUARY 2011: day 9 (week 1)
a block away from our house there is a hill called indian mound. one time on our way to church we saw some people sliding/sleding/there. so i suggested to kuya ed that we go there.
so here we are! we went there a little after 4pm. there weren't too many people playing.
rafael and grace were very excited to do the first slide..
so it was just kuya ed, ate mel and grace who went with us..
i tried sleding too!!! oh i was so fun!!!
sofia was not in the mood to play...

we didn't play long...it was sunset. we plan to visit again...

08 JANUARY 2011: day 8 (week 1)
i hope you are not yet getting tired of my snow photos. today we had a couple more centimeters of snow.
and here are the kids cozy and warm inside the house. rafael is helping isabelle with her reading assignment. isabelle can read faster now. and sofia is (pretending to) doing her assignment too.
nitz is outside clearing up our driveway.
and i was surprised to see this machine clearing up our street!!! ok... it was my first time to actually see them at work. what was i thinking...i am in canada now! hehehe
