27 FEBRUARY 2011: day 58 (week 8)
we had lunch with nitz' highschool friends and classmates. it was nice to meet raffy and his family. it has been a long time since nitz, raffy and anthony saw each other...it was a mini-reunion for them.
26 FEBRUARY 2011: day 57 (week 8)
we attended bro. edmund's birthday celebration.
when it was time to blow the candles, all the kids went beside him... it looked like it was a children's party...hehehe.
it was already past midnight when we went home. we just walked home. it was snowing quite heavily but there wasn't any wind so the snow was gently falling everywhere. even the tiniest branches caught snow and everything looked so beautiful. we could even see sparkles on the snow. i was in total awe as we walked home.

i prepared something extra special for the kids for school -- bbq chicken wrap. isabelle requested for cantalope and rafael asked for baby carrots for their sides.

i finally baked this pillsbury crescents....

22 FEBRUARY 2011: day 53 (week 8)
i helped isabelle with her project. they were required to 're-invent' the sharpener. we used this pencil-shaped drinking glass (give-away from pizza-hut i think..) and we decorated it.
isabelle was really happy with the end product...hehehe.

21 FEBRUARY 2011: day 52 (week 8)
it's FAMILY DAY!!! Family Day is observed in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan on the third Monday of February. this holiday celebrates the importance of families and family life to people and their communities.
after lunch we went to a recreation center where there was 'free skate' from 2-4 pm. there weren't boards around the rink to hold on to so i was holding isabelle while she skated around. rafael was right behind us ready to grab us in case he couldn't balance. but eventually i was able to let go and they skated slowly.
after skating, we went to swim at my friend's condominium.
i was really impressed with my friend's daughter who is only 3 years old...she is so brave in the pool!
then we (ronald's family and us) decided to have a family day dinner at this japanese restaurant ronald recommended. i have to say it is the best restaurant i have been (but of course i haven't been in too many...hehehe). this resto is on top of my list!!! love love love it!

20 FEBRUARY 2011: day 51 (week 7)
I woke up with a very bad headache.
SOFIA: you sick mommy?
ME: yes, baby. my head is awee.
SOFIA: why? you bumped your head?
I was a bit puzzled with her question but I just said ‘yes’.
SOFIA: like me. (rubbing the right part of her forehead she bumped on the bath tub.)
ME: can you put medicine?
SOFIA: ok mommy!
She ran to the other room and got the Vicks. She opened it , got a small amount and gently massaged my forehead.
ain't that sweet?!!! i love you, sofia..
(note: vicks is sofia's cure for everything...and i mean everything...hehehe)

19 FEBRUARY 2011: day 50 (week 7)
rafael was invited to a birthday party. he was so excited (and i was excited for him too!). he had dinner at his classmate's house and then they all went to the theater to watch 'green hornet'. he got home around 10pm. he had a great time. this was the birthday give-aways - a mug with candies and chocolates inside. cute!
18 FEBRUARY 2011: day 49 (week 7)
i has been a beautiful day here!!
temperature went as high as 8 degress celsius!! made me think it was spring already. the sun was out and was shinning so brightly. snow melted and you could see patches of grass/earth/soil. but i have to admit seeing the snow melt like this made me feel sad...i somewhat enjoyed seeing everything covered with white blanket.

happy valentine's to all!!
the kids were allowed to wear something red or pink to school. when they got home, they have all these gifts from their classmates!
isabelle made this card for me and nitz...and rafael shared with me the chocolate he received...so sweet.
that evening we had our valentine's dinner at our friend's house. we didn't really plan anything...it was all last minute but we had a good get together. thank you again to our hosts!!

i just found out about this store M&M that sells frozen food. i bought these burger patties and we tried it.

today is my dad's birthday!! but my dad passed away 2 years ago... i know so no more birthdays really. let's just say we remembered him dearly today. kuya ed and i prepared a little something and invited friends who were available that night.

i attended resume writing seminar at acces employment service. i felt i little nervous. nitz said it will help me when i decide to get a job.
but the best part of the day was that nitz finally got a job!!!! you might be wondering why the photo of bread?! well, he now works for the company that manufactures these breads. the HR gave him these...part of his non-taxable benefits...hahaha. bread is free!! (for personal consumption only...of course).

rafael had his 2nd skiing trip today. he leveled up to green. i really don't know what that means...hehehe.
08 FEBRUARY 2011: day 39 (week 6)
i was surprised to see some government trucks outside the house. so i stood by the window just watching. then they started working on our neighbor's tree. i thought they were just cutting the branches (but i was thinking why would the tree need trimming when it is still very young).
then they tied a rope around the trunk and cut it at the base!!! i know there must be a reason why they needed to cut the tree...i just feel sad that that young tree is now gone.
on a lighter note, i saw these icicles above our front door...they look beautiful.
