14 June 2010: DAY 165 (WEEK 25)

on our second day.. we already visited IKEA!! i just love that place. we checked out furnitures and some stuff for the house. we didn't buy any big items yet.. we still have to scout around for cheaper furnitures..hehehe. but we did get to buy small things!!

13 June 2010: DAY 164 (WEEK 24)

at 6 in the morning we were all ready at the ground floor of our apartment waiting for our taxi. all our luggages were ready too. i felt sad when i shut our apartment door closed for the last time... that was it. my heart felt so heavy but i tried not to cry..i did't want to my kids to see me crying.

our taxi arrive very late (an hour late!!!!) but we had enough time. as we drove through the streets of paris, i felt tears falling down my cheeks. deep inside i said goodbye to all those familiar streets...and houses.. and stores that i have learned to love, goodbye to all these places that have been part of my life for 5 years... goodbye to paris.
we checked-in in time. and shortly , they called us for boarding.

i was glad to see the kids enjoying the plane ride.

it was quite a long flight...

when we landed, the crew was kind enough to let us have a peek at the cockpit. isabelle was a bit scared but she stood still for one photo.

and .... welcome to canada!!!

after immigration and customs, we waited for my brother to pick us up.

and here they are with open arms... our new home -- canada.

12 June 2010: DAY 163 (WEEK 24)

our last day...
i was so thankful haydee was there to help me finish up all the things that needed to be done in the house. while i finish packing, she cleaned up all the rooms and put them back to how they were when we first arrived. it was such a tiring day..
we could still afford to smile after a very long day.

we finished up around 2am.
thank you haydee and john for everything... i will surely miss you. you have been my family in paris and you will always be...

11 June 2010: DAY 162 (WEEK 24)

i decided to finally cut sofia's hair. i think short hair looks good on her, don't you?

maria and monina dropped by mid afternoon to see us for the last time.

10 June 2010: DAY 161 (WEEK 24)

my friend hoa dropped by to see us for the last time. she brought this wonderful french cake called 'opera'. it was really sweet of her to go through all the trouble. thank you very much, hoa!!!

and another interesting thing i photographed today... bumber-to-bumper parking in paris! i will definitely miss this when we move to canada..hahaha.

09 June 2010: DAY 160 (WEEK 24)

i invited haydee and mayet for dinner, so i was expecting 2 families. we would be celebrating john's birthday. haydee arrived after lunch to help me prepare. i decided to bake some chicken wings and order pizza. haydee would cook spaghetti. so we are all set... but i was surprised when haydee said she would be cooking a big pack of noodles!!! i tried to convince here that we didn't need that much but she continued cooking the pasta. then mayet's husband arrived with a big container of dish! then haydee's sister arrived with a cake.. then more people arrived! then i understood why haydee cooked more. it was a surprise despedida party!!
so these were all the food!!!

and all the people who came-- ruth, amy and emer and their kids, ate milet and bro. raffy, nanay joy and tatay jun and aezel, mayet and rodel and bryan, nanay bella, haydee and john and moira. salamat po sa inyong pagpunta!

hehehe and finally the birthday celebrants!! it was john'n birthday that day, and a late birthday celebration for nitz.

08 June 2010: DAY 159 (WEEK 24)

aside from my endless packing, the house has been quite even with the kids around. i took a picture of the house after i cleaned it. as you can see, only the owner's stuffs were left, the stuff the i have learned to love. i had a visitor once that commented that our furnitures seemed like they came straight from chateau de versailles. i have to admit the furnitures are really old but i love them! they gave me that 'french' feeling. anyways.. let me share our humble home with you ...

11 June 2010

just a few words before i leave PARIS....

today is actually 12 june 2010 (time 00:30). i am still awake and trying to update my blog. i realized i cannot finish posting everything up to this very day, so i decided to just write something else...

this is my last full day in paris! i have so many things lined up for the day: pack, pack, pack!!!, buy the perfumes my sister-in-law asked, buy rafael the book i promised, visit the eiffel tower with the kids (my friend gave us free tickets!!!), move nitz stuff to his new apartment, clean up the house, and attend mass. i am not sure if i can go everything but i will try my best. the whole day yestercay my left achilles tendon was hurting. i went to my doctor-friend to have it checked late that night. she said i was overworking my left foot causing some raptures on my tendon. she gave me some medicine and wrapped my foot for support. with a bad foot and a long list of 'to-do' today i don't know how i can make everything work. anyway, i just have to do what can be done.

it is raining hard this very minute while i write this post... maybe paris is feeling sad because we are leaving (i sure am starting to feel sad...). me and nitz have been married for almost 8 years now and most of our married life is spent in paris!! from the very start i know this assignment is just for a couple of years and i have been telling myself it will end sometime. now is the end... and it is a bit painful to say that it is over. i have learned to love paris, its beauty and glamour and... imperfection!!! i have to admit it is not a perfect city but what city is????? but i have to say of all the cities i've been, i love paris the most. (maybe i'm a little bias because i lived here for 5 years..hahaha).
i am so blessed to have been given 5 years in this 'dream-like' city...with my family... in the 16th (!!!)..in a beautiful apartment... near the eiffel tower!! it has been a wonderful adventure, and i loved every day of it.

later today a friend will get this computer that we are using...and the internet will be cut. our only connection probably is nitz iphone. so let me just take this chance to post this while 'i am still in paris'. i want to remember this moment...

au revoir PARIS!

a bientot...

p.s.
i will update my blog as soon as get connection in canada.

07 June 2010: DAY 158 (WEEK 24)

officially..it was my last week in paris.
we took care of baby moira for a couple of hours that morning so after haydee's work she could go straight to our house. the kids adore moira so much.. moira did behave well under our care!
and we had a little photoshoot that morning!!

and here are some of my favorite shots of moira!!

06 June 2010: DAY 157 (WEEK 23)

another rainy day in paris...it was raining pretty hard. made me feel sad..

anyway, nitz had another basketball game. i have to say it was one great game... too bad they didn't win. but..but...but.. they gave a good fight!!

after all the games that day, we gathered in a nearby park for our fellowship. we were really surprised that it was also for us.. their way of saying goodbye. i feel so humbled just to be there. i felt we didn't deserve that much attention. i just want to thank them all so very much for making our last few days extra special. to my cfc family -- salamat po!!

05 June 2010: DAY 156 (WEEK 23) part 1

today we decided to be tourists in paris. we visited some places we haven't seen. (actually nitz have seen them during those times we left him alone here in paris).
we left the house just before lunch time and grabbed some sandwiches along the way. we ate along st. martin canal.

and while we are having lunch, we saw these people getting ready for a photo shoot!!

and here are some prettier models..hahaha!

let me show you some photos of canal saint-martin.

and we waited until a boat so we could see how the canal adjusts its water level to transfer the boat from one side to another...

just before we headed to our next destination, we stopped by picard to buy some ice cream on sticks...yummy!!

make sure you read on part 2 of this day!!

08 June 2010

05 June 2010: DAY 156 (WEEK 23) part 2

we took the metro again to go to another historic place that me and the kids haven't seen.

this is basilique cathedrale de st. denis (Basilica Cathedral of Saint Denis).

the remains of some kings and famous people are here... like louise XIV and marie antoinete!!

there were some activites behind the church for visitors. i did some 'stained-glass' imitation....

isabelle designed masks...

and rafael had a word hunt in the small garden.

then we took the metro again and headed to church.

such a wonderful day..!
